When is YC09?

Where is YC09?
“The Tops Conference Centre”, Stanwell Tops (near Wollongong). This is about an hour South of Sydney’s CBD. The Conference Centre has on site accommodation for 500 people. Photos can be viewed in the gallery.

How much does YC09 cost?
$500 (AU) per person. This includes all meals, accommodation and compulsory Youth Conference activities. Discounts apply for married couples and families with more than one dependent child attending. More information can be found on the Payment Information page.

What is the Age Range for the Youth Conference?
Registrations are open to young people aged from 15-30. You must be 15 (or turning 15) during the Conference Week to attend.

How do I get to the Conference Centre?
If you are travelling from Interstate or Overseas, the young people from Sydney will meet you at the airport and take you to the Conference Centre. This will only apply if you arrive the day that the Conference commences (3 January).

If you are arriving earlier, the YC09 Logistics Team will organise accommodation and travel arrangements (if required) with one of the Sydney Young People. The YC09 Logistics Team will be in contact with you prior to the Youth Conference commencing to confirm your travel and accommodation arrangements / needs.

How do I get home from the Conference Centre?
The Sydney Young people will arrange trips to the Airport on the day the Youth Conference finishes. The YC09 Logistics Team will be in contact with you prior to the Youth Conference commencing to confirm your return travel arrangements.

What if I want to stay in Sydney after the Youth Conference finishes?
There is a large variety of Post Conference Activities planned for the week following the Youth Conference. These will include a mix of fun, preaching and spiritual events to keep you inspired after our awesome week. You will need to allow spending money for food and entertainment for the week. The YC09 Logistics Team will arrange travel and accommodation with you prior to the Conference commencing.

What if I have special dietary needs / allergies?
The Conference Centre can cater for most specialist dietary needs. We will confirm your requirements with you prior to the Conference starting and make all necessary arrangements.

What will I need to bring?
It will be summer time while the Youth Conference is being held and the weather will be warm. Click Here to view the full list of what you should bring, but listed below are a few of the main items:

  • Swimmers, sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen for the pool and beach,
  • Clothes and personal toiletries for each day,
  • Instruments if you’d like to get involved in music,
  • The Conference Centre provides a doona (quilt) and pillow but no other bedding. You will need to bring a pillow slip and a set of sheets or a sleeping bag. The weather will be warm so only light bedding will be needed.
  • And of course don't forget your Bible, YC09 'Y' Booklet and a smile!

What if I don't have enough money to get to the Youth Conference?
Many Ecclesias choose to sponsor (in part) their young people that wish to attend Youth Conferences. Your first step would be to ask your Ecclesia if they are able to help you out.

Alternatively, you could do some fundraising yourself. Some ideas include:

  • Chocolate selling
  • Garage Sale
  • Hosting a Sausage Sizzle (BBQ)
  • Hosting a Trivia Night
  • Offer Car Washes
  • Do some gardening / odd jobs for members of your ecclesia

These ideas may be able to help you personally or even your entire youth group. If you know someone that is having trouble getting money together to attend the Youth Conference, it might be nice to help them out with some fundraising!
